Lake Forest, Ill – Lake Forest Lyrica, the highly acclaimed concert series at Lake Forest College, will present its opening concert of the season on Sunday, October 13 at 3 p.m., featuring the Boston-based early music vocal ensemble Liber unUsualis. The title of the concert is Heavenly Bodies. In the Middle Ages, the arrangement of planets and constellations in the night sky held great significance. Heavenly bodies were believed to represent noble virtues, serving as models of beauty, order, and justice. This concert presents Medieval music revolving around a celestial theme. Formed in 1996, Liber unUsualis is an ensemble devoted to performing Medieval and early Renaissance repertoire. The members of Liber unUsualis (soprano Melanie Germond, tenor William Hudson, and mezzo Carolann Buff) each hold master's degrees in historical performance from the Longy School of Music. Both in the United States and abroad, Liber unUsualis is acclaimed for its style, humor, and "paradoxically cool panache" (The Musical Times, London). The concert will be held in Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel, on the campus of Lake Forest College, located at the intersection of College and Sheridan Roads in Lake Forest. A reception with the musicians will follow the performance. Tickets are available to the public for $15 at the door. For students with ID tickets are $5. For more information please call (847) 735-5169. Lake Forest College is a private liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago.
