Charity Ball to Benefit Walter Payton Cancer Fund




Lake Forest, Ill. – The Lake Forest College student organization, Women for Social Change invites the public to a charity event benefiting the Walter Payton Cancer Fund. "The Lucky Ball" will be held on Friday, October 4 from 7:30 p.m.–midnight in the Windsor Hall of the Deer Path Inn, located at 255 East Illinois Road, Lake Forest. The semi-formal event with a vintage Vegas theme will feature music, dancing, appetizers, and raffle items.

"Women for Social Change is a student-run community service organization at Lake Forest College" says Stephanie Caparelli, vice president of the group, "our main goal is to promote academic achievement and community service within all communities." "We chose to support the Walter Payton Cancer Fund because of the volume and directness with which donated funds reach cancer patients, 99 percent of all proceeds go directly to the cause," says Caparelli. The Walter Payton Cancer Fund is a special fund of the Cancer Research Foundation and is located in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Women for Social Change currently has twenty members and volunteers for a variety of organizations, including the HIV/AIDS Coalition.

Tickets for the event are $25 per person, or $10 with a Lake Forest College student ID. They can be purchased by contacting Stephanie Caparelli at (847) 735-5874, or through email at caparsm@lakeforest.edu. Tickets will be available at the door on the evening of the event.


Tax-deductible donations are also welcome and those of more than $100 will be recognized in the "The Lucky Ball" program and the Lake Forest College Stentor.

Lake Forest College is a private liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,300 students representing 44 states and 43 other countries.
