Lake Forest, Ill – Lake Forest College Department of Music will present a spring concert on Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel on the campus of Lake Forest College at College and Sheridan Roads. The concert is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the performance. For more information please call (847)735-5169. The Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Rami Levin, will perform Bach's Concerto for Two Violins, featuring Tara Banick and Trina Banick, soloists. Also on the program is the Serenade for Winds by Richard Strauss, Variations on a Shaker Melody from Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland, and Berceuse and Finale from the Firebird Suite by Igor Stravinsky. The Chorus, under the direction of Kirk-Evan Billet will present a set of music on love texts, featuring Emma Lou Diemer's Three Madrigals from Shakespeare and a selection from Samuel Barber's Pulitzer prize-winning opera, Vanessa. Also on the program will be a setting from the Song of Songs by Canadian composer Healey Willan, and a Kenyan folk song arrangement. Lake Forest College is a private liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,250 students representing 44 states and 41 other countries.
