Lake Forest, Ill – Lake Forest College Department of Music will present a guitar recital by Christopher Laughlin on Friday, April 5 at 7:30 pm in Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel on the campus of Lake Forest College at College and Sheridan Roads in Lake Forest. The free concert will feature Spanish and Latin American music as well as music by J.S. Bach. There will be a reception with the artist following the concert. Performing everything from Spanish classics to Latin American dances, flamenco showpieces, and colorful contemporary works from all corners of the globe, guitar virtuoso Christopher Laughlin has delighted audiences across the United States and around the world. He has appeared in over 25 nations in Europe, North and South America, Africa, and the Pacific Rim. Mr. Laughlin received a Master of Music degree from Yale University and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory. He studied in Paris for two years on a Fulbright grant and on a French government scholarship. While living in Paris he won prizes in two international competitions, the Concours International de Guitar in Sable-sur-Sarthe, France, and the Concours International de l’U.F.A.M. in Paris. He teaches at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee, and at the Christopher Laughlin Guitar Studio in Northbrook, Illinois. For more information please call (847)735-5169.
