Joseph Yeh Memorial Lecture



Lake Forest, Ill –University of Chicago Professor Anthony C. Yu, will deliver the Joseph Yeh Memorial Lectures at Lake Forest College on March 4 and March 20. "The Ethics of Desire: A Comparative View of Confucians and Daoists" is the topic of the first public talk on Monday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. "Confucianism and Human Rights" will be presented Wednesday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m..

Both lectures will be held in Meyer Auditorium located in Hotchkiss Hall on the College’s Middle Campus near the intersection of College and Sheridan roads in Lake Forest. The public is encouraged to attend and there is no charge for admission. For more information, please call 847-735-6010.

Anthony C. Yu, a native of Hong Kong, received his doctorate in religion and literature from the University of Chicago, where he is currently the Carl Darling Buck Distinguished Service Professor of Humanities. Yu is also a faculty member in the Divinity School, the Departments of English, East Asian Languages and Civilization, Comparative Literature, and the Committee on Social Thought.

The lectures are held in honor of Lake Forest College Professor Joseph Yeh, a philosopher, teacher, and friend, whose young life was cut short last summer.

Lake Forest College is a private liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,250 students representing 44 states and 41 other countries.
