"China: A Different Islam"



Lake Forest, Ill – "China: A Different Islam" will be the subject of a slide lecture at Lake Forest College on Thursday, February 21 at 7 p.m. The lecture will be presented by Art Barbeau, Professor of History and Anthropology at West Liberty State College.

The public is invited to attend this free lecture in Lily Reid Holt Chapel on the College’s Middle campus at the intersection of College and Sheridan roads in Lake Forest. For more information, please call 847-735-6010.

Trained in early twentieth century American History, Professor Barbeau became interested in China and Chinese history in the 1970s and began conducting anthropological field work in northwestern China in the 1980s. Barbeau was a Fulbright scholar in Beijing in 1994-1995, and has lectured at many universities in China. His particular area of study is China's Women's Mosques.


Lake Forest College is a private liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,250 students representing 44 states and 41 other countries.
