Communication

Assistant Professor of Communication Rachel Whidden successfully campaigned to get Lake Forest College included as a stop on the British National Debate Team’s four-month tour of the United States.  Lake Forest College was selected as one of 32 stops on their tour. The debaters will give a public exhibition debate on the topic, "Is the U.S. Ready for a Woman President?” on November 26, 2007. This event kicks off the College's new Debate Society that will be advised by Professors Rachel Whidden and Linda Horwitz.

Associate Professor of English Davis Schneiderman is pleased to announce that his daughter, Kallista Jane Neo Haramis Schneiderman, was born on July 30, 2007.



Psychology

Over 500 students and faculty attended the 2006-2007 CAP Colloquia Series, which highlighted current advances in psychological research. The series brought seven leading scholars to campus, including David Gallo, University of Chicago; Dennis Molfese, University of Louisville; and Jim Nairne, Purdue University, and covered a wide range of psychological topics, such as developmental and health psychology, human memory, gender, and leadership. The CAP Series was generously supported by Psi Chi, the Psychology Department, the Center for Chicago Programs, the Learning and Teaching Center, and the General Assembly speaker fund.
