Assistant Director of Career Services

Lake Forest College is seeking an Assistant Director of Career Services.  This full-time salary position reports to the Director of Career Services and contributes to management of a comprehensive career services operation. 

Responsibilities include:
• Counsel and advise students individually and in group settings on topics such as: starting the internship/job search process, exploring options, writing professional documents, and searching and applying for jobs/internships/graduate programs.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to support early stage career development for all students.
• Maintain relationships across campus to strengthen the positive image of career services and help students feel welcome. 
• Serve on campus committees, support collaborative initiatives, and represent career services at college and alumni events.
• Manage relationships with faculty internship supervisors and communication with non-credit interns.  Be a “center of information” for all internship questions.
• Maintain Online Career Center, which includes approving internships, jobs, and student profiles daily, soliciting updates from faculty internship supervisors, and keeping information current.
• Serve as contact for employers or alumni posting internships for students.
• Maintain records of all students completing internships to be disseminated as needed.
• Offer regular workshops on career exploration and job search strategies.
• Develop print and web resources for key constituent groups.
• Stay current on employment trends, career opportunities, and resources available to students.
• Participate in appropriate professional development such as involvement in MCEIA, MwACE, ISCPA and NCDA.

Qualifications:
1 – 2 years experience in career services, guidance or its equivalent, preferably in a college environment
Master’s degree in counseling, student affairs or related area preferred
Ability to design and execute early stage career development programs
Qualification for the administration and interpretation of assessment instruments (e.g., the Strong Interest Inventory and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)
Must be team-oriented and able to communicate well with diverse populations
