Metra Rail System

imageMetra Trains leave for Lake Forest almost hourly from the Ogilvie Transportation Center at Madison Street and Canal Street in Chicago. (Please do not use the Metra train to Lake Forest from Union Station). The Metra Union Pacific North Line runs from downtown Chicago to Waukegan (and occassionally to Kenosha), with a stop in Lake Forest (at the Metra station adjacent to Market Square). If purchasing a ticket at Ogilvie Transportation Center, request your stop as Lake Forest. It is an easy ten-minute walk from the Lake Forest train station adjacent to Market Square back to our campus.

Below are the most popular times to and from the city from Lake Forest during the week and weekend.  On the weekend there is a special $5 fare for unlimited rides to and from Chicago. During the week a roundtrip ticket costs $9.50. Roundtrip tickets can be purchased only when the ticket window is open at the station. Otherwise, one-way tickets can be purchased on the train. Students may also purchase discounted ten-ride passes at the Center for Chicago Programs.
